CorelDRAW X5 adalah salah satu software grafis berbasis vektor yang banyak digunakan. Kemudahan dalam penggunaannya membuat software itu dikena sebagai software andal dalam mendesain gambar vektor.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 adalah salah satu software grafis berbasis 
bitmap yang banyak digunakan pula. Adobe Photoshop CS5 banyak digunakan dalam dunia industri desain grafis, percetakan, dan foto studio. Selain software grafis tersebut, masih banyaksoftware lain yang beredar di pasaran. Berikut ini beberapa contoh software berbasis grafis.

Software desain grafis


Dalam penyampaian informasi dan komunikasi, gambar grafis sudah merupakan kebutuhan pokok pada era teknologi informasi dewasa ini. Sejak diperkenalkan sistem GUI (Graphical User Interface), kebutuhan akan teknologi grafis semakin meningkat. Perintah-perintah pada program aplikasi sekarnag banyak menggunakan ikon atau toolbox secara visual sebagai pengganti menu atau perintah yang berbasis command line (teks).

Pada pembuatan media informasi digital seperti website, eksistensi grafis sudah menjadi suatu kebutuhan. Tidak dapat dipungkiri lagi, grafis sudah menjadi tolak ukur kualitas suatu program aplikasi atau website. Hal tersebut menimbulkan perang urat saraf antar-produsen software, terutama perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang desain grafis, sehingga bermunculan software-software berbasis grafis dengan fitur-fitur (fasilitas) yang canggih, mudah dalam pengoperasian, menarik, dan compatible.

Alasan pemerintah mengadakan pelajaran "Prakarya"


Prakarya diadakan di kurikulum 2013 untuk mengganti pelajaran TIK, dan untuk mengasah generasi-generasi muda agar siap di masa depan.

Apa itu "Prakarya"

Pengertian:      
Prakarya berasal dari istilah pra dan karya, pra mempunyai makna belum dan karya adalah hasil kerja.  prakarya didefinisikan sebagai hasil kerja yang belum jadi, prakarya masih berupa proof of concept atau sebuah prototipe. Prakarya belum mempunyai target pemasaran, oleh sebab itu belum ada penggunanya atau konsumennya. Satu-satunya penggunanya mungkin si developer atau desainer itu sendiri. Kualitas belum menjadi perhatian sebab yang penting bentuk dasarnya saja. Harga sebuah prakarya ditentukan sangat subyektif sebab belum tahu potensi pasarnya.

Manfaat:  
Prakarya mempunyai peranan penting dalam pengembangan kreatifitas dan mengembangkan menjadi sebuah inovasi baru.

            The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is one of the core protocols of the Internet protocol suite (IP), and is so common that the entire suite is often called TCP/IP. TCP provides reliable, ordered, error-checked delivery of a stream of octets between programs running on computers connected to a local area networkintranet or the public Internet. It resides at the transport layer.
                 The OSI, or Open System Interconnection, model defines a networking framework to implement protocols in seven layers. Control is passed from one layer to the next, starting at the application layer in one station, and proceeding to the bottom layer, over the channel to the next station and back up the hierarchy. The layers are:

  1. Physical
  2. Data link 
  3. Network
  4.  Transport
  5. Session
  6. Presentation 
  7. Application
              A wide area network (WAN) is a network that covers a broad area (i.e., any telecommunications network that links across metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries) using private or public network transports. Business and government entities utilize WANs to relay data among employees, clients, buyers, and suppliers from various geographical locations. 
                  In networking, the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) is a data link protocol commonly used in establishing a direct connection between two networking nodes. It can provide connection authentication, transmission encryption (using ECPRFC 1968), and compression.
             Frame Relay is a standardized wide area network technology that specifies the physical and logical link layers of digital telecommunications channels using a packet switching methodology. Originally designed for transport across Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) infrastructure, it may be used today in the context of many other network interfaces.
             The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical distributed naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network. It associates various information with domain names assigned to each of the participating entities. Most prominently, it translates easily memorized domain names to the numerical IP addresses needed for the purpose of locating computer services and devices worldwide. The Domain Name System is an essential component of the functionality of the Internet.

Chapter 10.1 and 10.2 summary

10.1 Calculating Statistics


Statistic can be use to summarise sets of data, and also use them to compare different sets of data.

There  are three different average:


  1. Mode: most common value or numaber
  2. Median: the middle value, when they are listed in order
  3. Mean: the sum of all the values divided by the numbers of values.

Range is not an average. it measure how spread out a set of values or numbers is.

For a large set of data, its not practical to list every number separately. Instead, you can record the data in frequency table.

A frequency table is any table that records how often (frequently) data values occur.

EXAMPLE:
the table shows the number of breads on 200 necklaces

Number of breads: 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50
Frequency            : 34, 48, 61, 30, 15, 12

A. Find the mode
B. Find the mean
C. Find the range

ANSWER:
A. The mode is 35
B. (25 x 34 + 30 x 48 + 35 x 61 + 40 x 30 + 45 x 15 + 50 x 12) = 6900
 
     6900 divided by 200(sum of all frequencies) = 34.5
C. 50 - 25 = 25 (this is the difference between the largest and the smallest number of bread)


10.2 Using Statistics


If you want to measure how spread out a set of measurement is, the range is the most useful statistic.

Here is a summary to help you decide which average to choose

  • choose the mode if you want to know which is the most commonly occurring number.
  • the median is the middle value, when the data values put in order. half the numbers are greater than the median and the half the number are less than the median
  • the mean depends on every value. if you change one number you can change the mean.   


EXAMPLE:

Here are the ages, in years, of the football players in football team.
Work out the average age.
16, 17, 18, 18, 20, 20, 21, 21, 32, 41


  • The mode is not good choice. There are three modes. Each has a frequency of only 2.
  • The mean will be affected by two oldest people. they are much older and will distort the value. In fact the mean is 22.1 and nine people are younger than this; only two are older 
  • the median is 20 and this is the best average to use in this case. Five player are younger than the median and five are older
